The House grows

Opening a Family Home for people with disabilities, in 1996, was a choice oflove of Msgr. Enrico Nardi, priest and founder and Giuseppe Merini, benefactor and OAMI member who donated the farmhouse to the association thinking about the future of his son,currently resident in the structure. Creating a day-time and residential community open to the territory, seemed like a dream but,thanks to some pioneers, the Casa Famiglia S. Antonio O.A.M.I was bom in an ancient farmhouse where guests can spend their days carrying out work.shops, leisure and recreational activities but, above all, receive stimuli aimed at breaking the monotony of time with the support and affectionate presence of friends, of volunteers and, with the support and professionalism of the staff operating within the structure.

Finally, families can succeed in giving an answer to the anguished question: "after me what will happen to my son?..."

It is thanks to the emotional relationships established, to the work. activities carried out in the various labora.­ tories,that it is possible to overcome isolation and create opportunities aimed at enhancing the person and achieving a lifestyle as autonomous and dignified as possible.
