It was an August many, many years ago. Tue girl who helped me with Rachel, my severely disabled daughter, suddenly bad to leave us for persona! reasons. It was total darkness. In September I bad to start working again and I didn't see any possible solution. Until the end of primary school, with full time, I bad managed to get by myself, but from the middle school everything changed. I was in an abyss of uncertainty; I needed a miracle. And that miracle carne with a phone call. They bad opened a new center in Baiano, more precisely an O.A.M.I. bouse, they asked me if I was interested. It was the best I could imagine. Since that phone call, our lives have totally changed. Tue operators and users of the house have become our family, the one and only. For over twenty years this residence bas been our tireless support. Thanks to it I was able to work with serenity and continuity. Before it was practically prohibitive for me even to feel bad. Now I know that in case of, emergency, as it bas sometimes happened, Rachel is no longer alone, but with someone who knows her and loves her. Ina sheet hanging on the door of my cupboard in the kitchen there is the telephone number of Egidia Patito, the manager of the structure and this explains more than a thousand words. For all this my infinite gratitude goes to those who work in and for this residence, it is appropriate to say that they saved our lives. Tue center is also a point of reference for the "After us". For me and for other parents. We are hopeful that the house can grow structurally to grow inhospitality. Each brick placed will give us a lighter breath and a more agile step. I do not want to forget to say that within the group Rachele bas also found her great love and it does not seem little to me.
I was the first to cross the threshold of this house. Here I shared joys and sorrows with my family. I can't think of leaving this structure.

I attend the Day-time Center. I love working with wood very much, here I have the opportunity to put it into practice. Always staying at home made me sad and bored; now, the mere thought of coming to the Centre every day fills me with joy.

I have been living in this structure for a long time and I get along very well with my friends with whom I have a strong bond. I practice many activities, such as small household chores, but my favorites are taking care of the flowers and helping Michela (the educator) during the Creative Workshop.
